Tourist visa

British passport holders do not need a visa to travel to Venezuela as tourists for up to 90 days, if entering and leaving the country by air. A Tourist Entry Card (TEC) valid for 90 days is available from the airlines serving Venezuela but these cards cannot be extended. If planning to travel to Venezuela by land or sea you should apply for a tourist visa beforehand.

The tourist visa is granted for one (1) year, with multiple entries. For each entry the tourist may stay in the country for a period of up to ninety (90) days. The visa may be extended for an additional and equivalent period of time by the appropriate Venezuelan authorities (Ministry of the Interior and Justice).

Vaccine recommended to enter Venezuela

According to a communication generated by the Ministry of the Popular Health, it is recommended that all passengers from other countries be innoculated with the viral bivalent vaccine (Sarampión/Rubéola) and yellow fever minimum 10 days before their entrance to Venezuela.

Advice:

The World Health Organization states, that there is a "Malaria risk Due to P. vivax (90%); P. falciparum (10%) exists throughout the year in some rural areas of Apure, Amazonas, Barinas, Bolívar, Sucre and Táchira states. Risk of P. falciparum malaria is mostly restricted to municipalities in jungle areas of Amazonas (Alto Orinoco, Atabapo, Atures, Autana, Manapiare, Rio Negro), Bolívar (Cedeño, Gran Sabana, Piar, Raul Leoni, Sifontes and Sucre), Carabobo (Naguanagua) and Delta Amacuro (Antonia Diaz, Casacoima and Pedernales). Chloroquine and sulfadoxine pyrimethamine resistant P. falciparum reported".

Recommended prevention: II in P. vivax risk areas; IV in P. falciparum risk areas.
